Almond Dhortbread
Serves 8
Ingredients :
150g/5oz flour
75g/3oz ground almonds
175g/6oz butter
100g/4oz castor sugar, plus extra
for dusting
a few drops of almond essence
1 albumen, gently overwhelmed
50g/2oz flaked almonds
• heat the kitchen appliance to 160°C/325°F/Gas mark three. gently grease associate
18 x 28cm/7 x 11in shallow baking tin.
• mix the flour and ground almonds in a very bowl. Cut the butter into
small items, and rub into the flour and almonds together with your fingertips till
the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
• Stir within the sugar and almond essence, then squeeze the mixture along
to form a dough. place the dough within the ready baking tin. Spread to
the edges by pressing it down with a metal spoon.
• gently brush the highest of the dough with albumen, and sprinkle the flaked
almonds over. Bake for 30–35 minutes till gently tanned. Leave to
cool within the tin, then digs individual biscuits. dirt with a bit further
sugar simply before serving.
